Accessible Seating Policy
- No Assigned Seating: Accessible sections are clearly marked and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Companion Limit: Each guest requiring accommodation may be accompanied by one companion in the designated area.
- Additional Guests: All other members of your party must use general seating.
BMAC STUDENT INFORMATION:
BMAC students who have ADA seating needs and wish to be seated with their peer(s) during the ceremony will notify staff at check in with their peer(s).
- The processional routes are flat or mild incline, and the field will have flooring to accessible seating.
- BMAC students who require mobility, wheelchair, or visual assistance will need to bring a personal companion (peer, friend, or family member) to accompany them or assist with pushing the wheelchair during the processional and stage crossing as staffing is limited. You may receive line access in front of other students, if needed. Please contact BMAC on their form to request early access/accommodations.
GUEST INFORMATION:
For ADA seating needs, accessible sections are clearly marked and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- It is recommended guests arrive at least 60 minutes before the ceremony start time.
- Parking opens 90 minutes in advance of each ceremony.
ASL INTERPRETING AND CAPTIONING:
In our commitment to ensuring this celebration is accessible to every graduate, family member, and guest, we are pleased to offer ASL interpreting, and real-time closed captioning and translations featured at all ceremonies on all screens.
- Students and guests will have access to closed captioning during the ceremonies:
- YouTube Livestream captioning: For [CC] on our YouTube livestreams of the ceremonies, please use their auto captions. Instructions link . There is a setting on the local player for end users to turn captions on/off if needed.
- Spanish interpretation will be available through your mobile device. Personal headphones will be required. Please locate the displays featuring the accessibility QR code.
ADA PARKING/ACCESSIBLE DROP OFF INFORMATION:
Parking is free for everyone during the ceremony.
- Accessible Parking Stalls will be located:
- Lower level of Palo Verde North & South parking structures
- G11 by the pyramid
- G12 limited spots available.
- If you require Accessible drop off:
- Inform the parking attendants that you need to drop off a student or guest and they will assist with navigating to the closest location Lot G12.
- We advise bringing a companion to assist you.
SERVICE ANIMALS vs. EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMALS:
Please note, in keeping with U.S. ADA regulations, people with disabilities may use a dog that is trained to do work or perform tasks for the guest. The work or tasks performed by the service animal must be directly related to the guest's disability.
- As such, animals that solely provide emotional support or companionship to a guest will not be permitted inside George Allen Field.
- Service Animals (dogs) are allowed, and if you report that your animal is a Service Animal, security will ask the following questions for verification:
- Is this animal needed because of a disability?
- What duty or task does this animal perform (that is outside of the realm of emotional support)?
- Admitted Service Animals must be under the control of the handler at all times, exhibit appropriate behavior, and be housebroken.
- BMAC advises that you relieve your Service Animal prior to the ceremony, or if your animal needs to be relieved in the middle of the ceremony, your animal may surrounding areas outside the venue as relief areas. Please bring bags to clean up after your animal.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
During Commencement, all bags, backpacks, strollers, and other carriers are prohibited from being brought to George Allen Field with the following exceptions (after proper inspection):
- Clear bags(plastic or vinyl) with no obscured interior pockets that do not exceed 12.75" x 6.5" x 12.75". Medically necessary items, including diaper bags are to be in clear bags within these dimensions.
- Only factory-sealed plastic bottles with water, flavored water, sports drinks up to 1 liter in size, or an empty water bottle are permitted.
- Strollers are prohibited on George Allen Field. Please leave them in your vehicle or utilize the complimentary bag check at security.
