GWAR & GPE FAQs
GWAR Placement Exam (GPE):
- Yes.
- Do I still need to take it?
- No.
GWAR Portfolio Courses:
- Yes. The units and grades you earned will count toward the 120-unit graduation requirement.
Enrollment in GWAR course (WI):
- What determines my placement into a Writing Intensive Course if there is no longer the GPE?
You can register directly into a GWAR course (WI) as long as you have completed any required prerequisites (excluding the GPE and Portfolio courses, which are no longer required). If you have questions about which WI to take or how to enroll, please consult your primary academic advisor.
- I need to take a WI course to meet the GWAR, but the catalog and/or my Academic Requirements Report says that I need a GPE score or portfolio course as a pre-requisite. What are my next steps?
You may register directly for a WI course. The GPE and portfolio course are no longer prerequisites.
- I have difficulty registering for my WI course because it still says my portfolio course requirement is not met. What are my next steps?
This prerequisite should have been removed. Please try registering again. If the issue persists, contact your primary academic advisor for assistance.
- Can I complete GWAR course (WI) through CSU fully online course?
- If you are a student who wants to enroll in a course for your writing intensive (WI) course, please see your major advisor and discuss CSU Fully Online classes with your department recommendations before choosing your GWAR course (WI).
