REGULATION XI

INTERIM CSU POLICY PROHIBITING DISCRIMINATION, HARASSMENT, SEXUAL MISCONDUCT, SEXUAL EXPLOITATION, DATING VIOLENCE, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, STALKING, AND RETALIATION

The California State University (CSU or University) is committed to maintaining an inclusive and equitable community that values diversity and fosters mutual respect. We embrace our community differences in Age, Disability (physical and mental), Gender (or sex), Gender Identity (including nonbinary and transgender), Gender Expression, Genetic Information, Marital Status, Medical Condition, Nationality, Race or Ethnicity (including color, caste, or ancestry), Religion (or religious creed),

Sexual Orientation, Veteran or Military Status. All Students and Employees have the right to participate fully in CSU programs, activities, and employment free from Discrimination, Harassment, Sexual Misconduct, Sexual Exploitation, Dating Violence, Domestic Violence, Stalking and Retaliation. ()

Employees are prohibited from entering into a consensual relationship with any Student or Employee over whom that Employee exercises or influences direct or otherwise significant academic, administrative, supervisory, evaluative, counseling, or extracurricular authority.

Students and Employees have a right to participate in and receive benefits and services from the University that are made available to all ƵStudents/ Employees. If you feel your educational or employment rights have been adversely impacted due to potential Discrimination, Harassment, Sexual Misconduct, Sexual Exploitation, Dating Violence, Domestic Violence, Stalking, and Retaliation you have a right to contact Equity & Compliance to file a complaint. The University follows the CSU Policy Prohibiting Discrimination, Harassment, Sexual Misconduct, Sexual Exploitation, Dating Violence, Domestic Violence, Stalking, and Retaliation.

Per the Executive Order,

Ƶemployees are required to report forward any potential allegations of Discrimination, Harassment, Sexual Misconduct, Sexual Exploitation, Dating Violence, Domestic Violence, Stalking, and Retaliation will be transferred to Equity & Compliance to first review prior to undergoing the Grade Appeal process.

Notice of Non-Discrimination on the Basis of Gender or Sex

The CSU prohibits the following conduct, as defined in the  CSU Nondiscrimination Policy, Article II.

  1. The CSU prohibits the following conduct, as defined in section V.A and B
  2. Discrimination based on any Protected Status, including Age, Disability (physical and mental), Gender, Gender Identity (including Nonbinary or Transgender), Gender Expression, Genetic Information, Marital Status, Medical Condition, Nationality, Pregnancy or related conditions, Race or Ethnicity (including color, caste, or ancestry),Religion or Religious Creed, Sex (including Sex Stereotyping or Sex Characteristics), Sexual Orientation, and Veteran or Military Status
  3. Harassment based on any Protected Status.
  4. Sexual Harassment and other Harassment on the basis of Sex or Gender, including:
  5. Hostile environment or Quid Pro Quo Harassment (e.g., when a person conditions a benefit on the Complainant’s participation in unwelcome sexual conduct).
  6. Dating Violence, Domestic Violence, Sexual Exploitation, and Stalking; and/or
  7. Sexual Misconduct.
  8. Prohibited Consensual Relationships.
  9. Retaliation

Procedures for Students and Others to Report Criminal Actions or Other Emergencies on Campus

Criminal actions and other emergencies occurring on campus should be reported immediately to the University Police Department by calling (562) 985-4101 or dialing 911 from campus or cellular phone, you may be able to send a text message to 9-1-1 (Text-to-911 is not available in all areas or on all carriers. Support for texting is made on a “best- effort” basis and is not as reliable as voice calls made to 9-1-1. Please be prepared to provide your location as the carriers do not always provide accurate or reliable location information with text messages). Other methods include “blue light” emergency telephones, or red phones throughout campus. Visit the Main Station on the south end of parking E5, or by calling (562) 985-4101. A confidential "We Tip" line is also available at (562) 986-5131 or on the ƵPD website with a web fillable form. All crimes or suspicious activity/persons should be reported to ƵPD immediately. The department will respond by taking the following action(s) as necessary: 

  • Dispatch police and/or Ƶ Fire Department to the scene of a reported incident
  • Investigate the incident
  • Take appropriate action(s) to identify, apprehend and prosecute the person(s) responsible
  • Notify or request the assistance of other law enforcement and/or other agencies and university resources when necessary
  • Take action(s) and/or make appropriate notifications.
