Ben Hagedorn, a professor of geology in the Department of Earth Science at Cal State °µÍøÊÓƵ, and his research assistant, Teddy Custodio, were featured in for their research on how saltwater intrusion into groundwater can bring hazardous chemicals to the surface. Their work produced a series of maps identifying areas in California where rising groundwater could force contaminants upward, creating potential public health risks.
