Petitions

Candidates may submit a petition to request an exception to any SSCP policy. Appeals to program decisions or requests for Single Subject Credential Program policy exceptions due to extenuating circumstances, are made by filing a written appeal to the Single Subject Credential Program Petition Committee.  The Committee reviews the written statement and supporting evidence via the online process.  After the review, the Committee renders its final decision.

Candidates may not petition Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC), College of Education, CSU and Educational Code policies/regulations.

Petitions are heard monthly by the Single Subject Petition Committee during the fall and spring semesters. Petitions must be submitted one week prior to the Petition Committee meeting as indicated below on the schedule. To submit a petition, candidates must first make an appointment with their Subject Area Coordinator to discuss the type of petition and any supporting documents that are needed. Please do not skip this step.
