°µÍøÊÓÆµ Teacher Residency (LBTR)
- Accepted students become residents with LBUSD and student teach in LBUSD.
- Residents are paid a monthly stipend through LBUSD during their student teaching year. The stipend amount totals up to $34,000 for the school year.
- In addition to the stipend, residents can work as substitute teachers one day a week for additional pay.
- Upon successful completion of the program, residents receive priority interviews with LBUSD for available teaching vacancies. In return, residents agree to a teaching commitment of four years.
- Methods courses are held off-campus in LBUSD.
- Coursework is linked to real teaching in a real classroom, and space is reserved in every course.
- LBTR residents receive additional professional development from °µÍøÊÓÆµuniversity faculty and LBUSD district leadership.
- A cohort model allows Residents to form a community with other future teachers.

Requirements
- Pursue either:
- A Spanish bilingual authorization (BILA) in addition to the Multiple Subject credential through the UTEACH program
- The Educational Specialist (MMSN) and Multiple Subject dual credential through UDCP. (Extensive Support Needs credentials not eligible for stipend.)
- Students must first enroll in one of the credential programs above at CSULB.
- Commit to a full year of student teaching, following the LBUSD school calendar.
- Student teach in either a Dual Immersion (bilingual) classroom or a TK-3rd Grade Collaborative Co-Teaching (CCT) classroom within LBUSD.
- Agree in writing to serve in a school within the jurisdiction of LBUSD for at least four school years, beginning with the school year following the successful completion and attainment of a preliminary teaching credential.
- Residents not hired by LBUSD will be offered guidance on other job opportunities within or outside the district. (Four-school-year teaching commitment must be completed in a California school).
- Residents will have eight school years to complete the four-school-year teaching commitment.

The °µÍøÊÓÆµ Teacher Residency is an innovative and sustainable teacher preparation program dedicated to fostering diversity, equity, and excellence in education. Through a strong partnership, this program recruits, prepares, and supports a diverse pipeline of multilingual, inclusive, and transformational teacher leaders. These educators are equipped to promote equity and justice within their schools and communities in order to be champions for students and families in the °µÍøÊÓÆµ Unified School District.
