Beth Tsai, Ph.D., is the author of (Edinburgh University Press, 2023). Her research focuses primarily on the cinema of Taiwan, film festivals, and transnational film theory. She has published in the , , , ,, , and . She has also contributed many chapters to edited collections. 

She is also an experimental film artist. Her works have been showcased both locally and internationally, including the Women with a Movie Camera Festival in New York and the Strasbourg European Fantastic Film Festival in France. 

She has served as a panelist for the (NYSCA) grants for individual artists, moderated post-screening discussions at the in Los Angeles, and been invited to speak at the .
