Professor helps residents understand how personal data is acquired in public spaces

Gwen Shaffer, a professor in the Department of Journalism and Public Relations and Director of Research for the College of Liberal Arts at Cal State Ƶ, spoke with the engineering magazine about leading “data walks” in Ƶ to see how residents felt about the different ways their personal data may be captured. Shaffer said her research team is working with engineers at , to develop an app to help people remove publicly acquired data that has been compiled about them.
