Expert in wetland ecology comments on research using recycled glass to protect shorelines

Christine Whitcraft, a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Cal State °µÍøÊÓƵ, commented on recent research using recycled glass combined with sediment to protect coastal erosion and plant growth in an article by . The glass/sediment mixture could reduce landfills while supplementing a limited amount of sediment to restore areas eroded from sea level rise. Whitcraft said the use of the recycled glass seemed to hold promise across a range of plants although more research needs to be done.
