°µÍøÊÓÆµunderstands that life happens and sometimes educational plans change unexpectedly or without warning. We are proud to share that former students who meet certain eligibility requirements (listed below) may be able to re-enroll at °µÍøÊÓÆµas a continuing student without going through the formal re-admission process.

Who is eligible to return to °µÍøÊÓÆµthrough the Welcome Back pathway?
- Admitted to the university between Fall 2019 and Spring 2025
- Completed at least one unit of coursework at CSULB
- Not currently enrolled or on active Educational Leave
- Left in good academic standing
What if I am returning from Educational or Military Leave?
Students who are returning from an approved educational or military leave do not need to follow the requirements for the Welcome Back process and should refer to the Returning from Educational Leave page for support.
What if I am a former student but do not meet the Welcome Back pathway eligibility requirements?
If you are a former student looking to re-enroll but are not eligible for the Welcome Back pathway per the terms listed above, please visit the Readmission page for guidelines.
Returning students who are eligible to return to °µÍøÊÓÆµthrough the Welcome Back pathway may:
- Receive an application fee waiver
- Return to °µÍøÊÓÆµwithout formally applying for readmission through CalStateApply
- Pick up where you left off and continue progress towards your original declared major

Steps to Return to CSULB:
If you left °µÍøÊÓÆµin good academic standing or were on academic warning (probation) and wish to complete your original degree program, you may qualify to submit a Request for Readmission Consideration form as part of the Welcome Back pathway. This form provides CSULB's Office of Admissions with the foundation to begin reviewing your qualifications for returning to The Beach.
Note: If you attempted units at another college or university or through CSULB's College of Professional and Continuing Education, you will not qualify for this pathway. You will need to submit a new application to °µÍøÊÓÆµthrough . See Key Dates and Deadlines for application availability.

Before you register for your classes, you will need to discuss your remaining degree requirements with your Academic Advisor. Your advisor will work with you on a plan for finishing your degree and can help identify the classes you should enroll in.
After you discuss your classes with your academic advisor, you will register online through within an appointment window. Be sure to check your °µÍøÊÓÆµstudent email for information regarding your registration appointment and instructions.

The Welcome Back Pathway is exclusively for students who are returning to °µÍøÊÓÆµto complete their originally declared major. If you are interested in returning to °µÍøÊÓÆµbut want to change your major, take the Readmission Pathway quiz when open to determine your eligibility.
Indicate your declared major or pre-major at the time you were last enrolled at °µÍøÊÓÆµand when you talk to your academic advisor, you can discuss your educational plan and any possible major changes.
If you do not qualify for the Welcome Back pathway, but are still interested in returning to CSULB, it is possible you may qualify for other readmission pathways. Learn more via Readmission.
There is no minimum unit requirement. If you are interested in returning to CSULB, you may enroll on a full-time (12 or more units) or a part-time (6 or less units) basis. You may discuss your plan to complete your degree with your academic advisor.
You are encouraged to take the Readmission Pathway Quiz as soon as you can so that you may prepare for class registration.
If you left °µÍøÊÓÆµin good academic standing or were on academic warning (probation) and attempted units at another college or university or CSULB’s College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPaCE), you will need to submit a new application to °µÍøÊÓÆµthrough Cal State Apply during the open application window. Because you will have new units from another institution on your academic record, you will be considered a Returning Transfer Student.
