°µÍøÊÓƵ

As a scholar, profession, and community leader, Dr. Johnson has been a strong advocate for racial and health equity. During the summer, she has actively participated in the City of °µÍøÊÓƵ town halls and listening sessions about the implementation of the  initiative. Acknowledging the existence and long-standing impacts of systemic racism in °µÍøÊÓƵ and the country, the initiative will provide a framework for engaging the public in a reconciliation process, internal process review, and local action plan.  

Dr. Amber Johnson co-moderated two of the listening sessions that focused on Black Health Equity. She also worked with a team of recent °µÍøÊÓƵgraduates to analyze the City of °µÍøÊÓƵ’s townhalls and listening sessions. The summaries of their findings were used to negotiate more culturally-tailored strategies in the . Because of her commitment to health equity and her involvement in the community, the City of °µÍøÊÓƵ has asked Dr. Johnson to play a larger role in advancing Black health equity within the community.
