Coveted Graduates
Imagine an engineering college where students can reach their full potential. They have access to financial support to pursue their education, academic support that nurtures their academic excellence, and high-impact pedagogies and co-curricular activities that enable them to thrive. Over half of our stud
from college, and a similar percentage are Pell-eligible. An engineering degree has multiple and far-reaching impacts – it not only transforms the lives of our graduates, but it also uplifts the communities in which they live, while providing the coveted engineering talent that fuels the regional industries and economy.
With your support, we will sustain and grow the following programs:
- Scholarships and Fellowships
Financial support increases access to engineering education regardless of financial circumstances and helps build a talented and inclusive student body. For new and/or endowed scholarships, please contact the COE Development team.
- Beach Engineering Student Success Team (BESST)
BESST is a cohorted learning community where freshmen take their classes with the same group of 25 students. This is a cited best practice for forming study groups and friendships and for fostering academic success, particularly for first-generation and minoritized groups. The first-year calculus placement rate, retention rate, and feeling of belonging of the BESST cohorts outpace the college average, and these are early predictors of success in engineering degree programs.
- Engineering Student Success Center (ESSC)
The ESSC provides critical support services including academic advising, tutoring, and outreach.
- Corporate Affiliates Program
Our corporate partners are encouraged to join our Corporate Affiliates Program. The membership fee supports senior design projects and competition teams. Sponsorship is recognized at the annual Senior Design Project Expo. More information can be found here: /college-of-engineering/corporate-affiliates
- Senior Design Projects
Project-based learning is a highly effective pedagogy in engineering education that results in deeper learning and understanding. The senior design project is a culmination of the baccalaureate program of study and incorporates the theory learned in the classroom into an authentic, real-world project. Resources enable students to bring their designs to life and benefit from learning in the process.
- Student Organizations and Competition Teams
Our co-curricular activities provide opportunities for leadership, communication, and teamwork development in addition to work on shared passions. They are just as vital and important as the degree programs themselves.
- 100+ Women Strong
This industry professional affiliate group to the college has a mission to inspire, recruit, retain, graduate, and launch women engineers and computer scientists into successful careers, with the ultimate goal of achieving parity in gender representation.
- BEACH Women in Engineering Conference
This conference is the signature event of the 100+ Women Strong group. For more information, please explore past conferences: /college-of-engineering/beach-women-engineering-conference-2025
