Aura Pérez-González
Dr. Aura Pérez-González (she/her/ella) is an Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education at California State University °µÍøÊÓÆµ (CSULB). As a teacher educator, she has a deep commitment to preparing culturally and linguistically responsive early childhood educators.
Her research focuses on: (1) exploring the teacher preparation experiences of Latinx early educators to inform and transform early childhood teacher preparation programs; (2) examining the critical early literacy practices of early educators and young children.
Dr. Pérez-González also has over 14 years of experience as an early educator. She has taught children ages birth through five, was an early childhood education center director, as well as a mentor teacher and university supervisor in early childhood education centers located in Los Angeles, San Diego, and New York City. As an early educator, her personal experiences growing up bilingual and in Los Angeles shaped her ongoing advocacy for equitable, asset-based early childhood educational curriculum. Through her research, teaching, and collaboration with the community, she works to advance systemic change in early childhood education.
