Senator Lena Gonzalez is a powerhouse legislator and community champion whose career reflects a lifelong dedication to equity, innovation and the well-being of the communities she serves. She represents 1 million residents in California’s 33rd Senate District, encompassing Southeast Los Angeles, the City and Port of °µÍøÊÓÆµ, Lakewood, Signal Hill, and Catalina Island. She is Chair of the California Latino Legislative Caucus and recently held the influential role of Senate Majority Leader. Her legislative record is bold and far-reaching, spanning landmark policies on Broadband for All, clean transportation, expanded paid sick leave, the Abortion Accessibility Act and SB 1137, which protects communities from pollution and ends neighborhood oil drilling. Before her senate tenure, Gonzalez served on the °µÍøÊÓÆµ City Council, where she championed labor rights, sustainability, and innovation, including the nationally recognized Digital Inclusion Roadmap, one of her proudest achievements for its collaborative and equitable approach to bridging the digital divide.
