Griefer is a distinguished federal public servant whose career at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development reflects a deep commitment to housing equity, community development and protecting the integrity of the systems that millions of Americans rely on. As director of HUD's Santa Ana Homeownership Center, he oversees FHA single-family mortgage insurance, quality assurance and HUD home sales across eight Western states, and currently serves as acting executive director of the Appraisal Subcommittee, a federal agency ensuring that real estate appraisals nationwide remain professional, independent and compliant. Earlier in his career, he served as HUD's national director of grants for the Office of Native American Programs, where he helped pilot a landmark grant program in partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide housing assistance and wraparound case management services to homeless Native American veterans. His impact has been widely recognized — in 2023, he was named one of Orange County's 125 Most Influential People by The Orange County Register and received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the °µÍøÊÓÆµGraduate Center for Public Policy and Administration.
